Complement fixation (CF) detects anti-Coccidioides IgG and IgM antibodies. Any titer is suggestive of ongoing or past infection, with titers of >1:32 are suggestive of disseminated infection. Positive CF titers may be followed to monitor therapeutic success. A negative result does not rule out the possibility of infection.
